About the Raga
Raga Kalyani is one of the major ragas of Carnatic music and the principal representative of the 65th Melakarta, Mechakalyani. It is characterized by the use of Tivra Madhyamam (M₂) and has a bright, expansive and graceful melodic character. Kalyani is equally suited to elaborate classical treatment and compositions such as the Thillana.
