About the Raga

Raga Kambhoji is one of the major ragas of Carnatic music and is a janya of the 28th Melakarta, Harikambhoji. It has a majestic and expansive character and is particularly suited to elaborate melodic treatment. Kambhoji is an important raga in the repertoire of Tyagaraja and other major Carnatic composers.

About the Artist

The Alathur Brothers, Alathur Srinivasa Iyer and Alathur Sivasubramania Iyer, were one of the distinguished vocal duos of twentieth-century Carnatic music. They were renowned for their precise vocal coordination, mastery of laya and sophisticated treatment of Carnatic compositions.
